Biography
I started my musical experience in Church and in Junior High School playing percussion and trap drums. Thank God, for great Band Directors and Mentors, that were pivotal to my great start and growth as a person and as a musician. Just to name a couple, Carl Winfrey , Willie McShan my first musical mentors and John Pate Jr. my Band Director. My first job was Summer Jazz Band for Carver High School under the direction of Dr. Curtis Prince and John Pate plus musical mentor Jerry Picket. This experience changed my young life. While in high school we performed all over for various events in the city, I even started performing in clubs as a teenager.
After high school and during my college years as a freelance drummer I recorded and performed with some of the most well-known musicians in city of Chicago, Walt Whitman, Rev. Berryhill, Reuben Lightfoot, Richard Patterson, Michael Manson, the Randall Family, Edwin Dorty and many others.
I hate to admit it... I stopped playing for a while.
After my brief hiatus, returning to my first love I not only focused on performing I started producing and promoting shows. I partnered with my friend, Ron Moten and others we produced and promoted shows featuring great recording artist such as, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Whalum (Gospel According to Jazz) participated in fund raiser for Lorenz Tate and others. Ron Moten and I went on to start an Inspirational Project that ran for over a decade, it was a blessing to me and others. Our Jazz Inspirational Projects over several included, Mother Day Brunches, Gospel Jazz Concerts at Church, Banquets Fundraiser, Corporate events in and around Chicago Area. We had the pleasure of meeting and working with some of the best talent in Chicago.
Today I’m proud of the fun I had in the past and look forward to the future. Since I returned to my passion, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the stage with several bands, Ronnie G, Ken Davis, Kjaz , Mr. Rhythm, Home Wrecker, Felix Phong Trio, Diva’s & Don’s band and others. I Can't wait for the opportunity to perform for or with you.
